User Guide
Overview
The "Show in a Portal" UI Action is a global form and list context menu action in ServiceNow that allows users with the "admin" role to preview a record in a Service Portal. It offers three portal page options—"form", "standard_ticket", and "ticket"—and opens the record in a new tab or window within the selected portal and page. The tool saves the last used page and portal as user preferences, automatically selecting the last used page for future use.
Steps to Use
1. Access a Record Form or List
Log in to your ServiceNow instance as a user with the "admin" role.
Navigate to a record form (e.g., an incident form) or a list view (e.g., a list of incidents).
2. Locate the UI Action
On a Form: Right-click on the form header (or anywhere on the form) to open the context menu. Find Show in a Portal (ASI).

On a List: Right-click on a record in the list view to open the context menu. Locate Show in a Portal (ASI) alongside options like "Copy URL to Clipboard".

3. Select a Portal Page
Click Show in a Portal (ASI).
A pop-up window titled "Show in a Portal" will appear.
Under "First, select which page you want the record to be rendered in:", choose a page from the dropdown:
form
standard_ticket
ticket
The last used page (if any) will be automatically selected based on your user preferences.
Click on the desired portal’s link.

4. Preview the Record in the Service Portal
A new tab or window will open, displaying the record in the selected portal and page combination.
The selected page and portal will be saved as user preferences for future use.

Notes
This UI Action is restricted to users with the "admin" role.
The supported portal pages are form, standard_ticket, and ticket, as these are designed to render most records in a Service Portal.
The tool saves the last used page and portal as user preferences, automatically selecting the last used page the next time you use the tool.
The tool does not modify the record; it only renders it for preview in the chosen portal and page.
If you know of additional portal pages that can render records, contact the tool’s creator to request updates.
