Overview
The Export to XML (NOT Complete) tool is a practical addition to the PowerClick Toolkit, tailored for ServiceNow developers, testers, and implementers who frequently need to export Update Sets before they're finalized.
Unlike ServiceNow's out-of-box (OOB) "Export to XML" action, which only appears when the Update Set state is "Complete" this tool enables exports for incomplete sets. Common use cases include preparing for instance clones, sharing with collaborators, or posting in community forums.
How to Use It
Access an Update Set: Navigate to System Update Sets > Local Update Sets (or Retrieved Update Sets if applicable) and open a record where the state is not "Complete".
Locate the Tool: Scroll to the "Related Links" section at the bottom of the form.
Trigger the Export: Click the "Export to XML (NOT Complete)" link.
Download the File: The system will process the export and redirect you to a download page for the XML file. Save it locally as needed.
Note: This action mimics the OOB export but bypasses the state restriction, ensuring you can work with incomplete sets without marking them complete prematurely.
