User Guide

Overview

The "Show Form Record(s)" UI Action is a form context menu action in ServiceNow that opens a new tab or window displaying a list of "Form" records (from the sys_ui_form table) associated with the current table. It’s a companion to the "Show Form Sections" tool and helps users inspect the underlying form configurations, particularly for form views with multiple sections.

Steps to Use

1. Navigate to a Form

  • Log in to your ServiceNow instance.

  • Open a form for any record (e.g., an incident form under Incident > Create New or an existing record).

2. Access the Context Menu

  • Right-click on the form header (or anywhere on the form) to open the context menu.

  • Locate and click Show Form Record(s) (ASI), which appears alongside other options like "Show Form Sections" and "Show Schema Map".

3. View the Form Records

  • A new tab or window will open, displaying a list view of "Form" records (from the sys_ui_form table) for the current table (e.g., incident).

  • The list will show forms defined for the table, including their names, views, and other details.

  • If no form views with multiple sections exist for the table, the list may be empty.

4. Analyze the Form Configurations

  • Review the list to understand the form configurations for the table, such as which views have defined forms or if multiple sections are configured.

  • Use this information to troubleshoot form layouts or plan modifications.

Notes

  • The tool specifically queries the sys_ui_form table for form records associated with the current table.

  • If no form views with multiple sections are defined, the list may be empty, which is expected behavior.

  • This UI Action does not modify the form or table; it only provides a view of the existing form records.

  • It’s particularly useful for administrators or developers who need to inspect or debug form configurations.
