User Guide
The Execute Now and Return UI Action is a form UI Action on the Scheduled Job table in ServiceNow. It allows users to manually trigger a Scheduled Job with a confirmation prompt and ensures the form is saved or reloaded if modified before execution.
How to Use the Execute Now and Return UI Action:
Navigate to a Scheduled Job: Open a Scheduled Job record in ServiceNow.
Trigger the Job:
Locate and click on the Execute Now and Return (ASI) button on the form (next to the standard "Execute Now" button).
Confirm Execution:
A dialog will appear asking, "Are you sure you want to run this job now?"
Click "OK" to proceed or "Cancel" to abort.
Handle Form Modifications:
If the form has unsaved changes, a warning message will appear: "You have made changes to the data on the form. Please save the record or reload it."
Click "OK" on the dialog, then save the record (click "Update") or reload the form to proceed with the job execution.
Job Execution: Once confirmed and the form is saved (if needed), the Scheduled Job will run, and you’ll be returned back to the form.
Technical Details:
The UI Action checks for unsaved changes on the form before allowing the job to run, ensuring data integrity.
It provides a confirmation step to prevent accidental job execution, making it user-friendly for admins.
