This is similar to the Open in ServiceNow Studio tool, but will open your application in the legacy ServiceNow Studio.


User Guide


The Open in Studio (Legacy) UI Action provides a convenient button on forms and a context menu option on lists, allowing authorized developers to quickly open a selected application directly in ServiceNow Studio. This feature streamlines the editing process for custom applications, reducing time spent switching between views.


How to Use:

From a Form View

  1. Navigate to the form view of the desired application record (e.g., in the Custom Applications table).

  2. Look for the Open in Studio (Legacy) (ASI) button in the form header, typically located alongside options like "Update" and "Delete", or above the Related Links section.

  3. Click the Open in Studio (Legacy) (ASI) button.

  4. The application will automatically open in the Legacy version of ServiceNow Studio for editing.

Note: If the button is not visible, verify your admin role and the application's "Can Edit Application in Studio" setting.


From a List View

  1. Navigate to a list view containing application records.

  2. Right-click on the desired application record in the list.

  3. In the context menu that appears, select Open in Studio (Legacy) (ASI).

  4. The application will open directly in the Legacy version of ServiceNow Studio.
