(Optional) Set Up Clone Data Preserver:

Although not necessary, we recommend setting up a Clone Data Preserver, to maintain Module activation settings during cloning:

  1. Create a Clone Data Preserver:

    • Navigate to the Clone Data Preserver form.

    • Set "Name" to something descriptive.

    • Set "Table" to "Module [sys_app_module]".

    • Add conditions:

      • "Application menu" is "System Update Sets".

      • "Display name" starts with "Update Source -".

  2. Clone Data Preserver

Save the Preserver: This ensures that Module activation settings (e.g., "Active" field) are preserved in sub-production instances during cloning.

Use Case Example:

  • Dev Instance: No active Modules (not pulling Update Sets).

  • Test Instance: Activate "Update Source - dev" to pull Update Sets from dev.

  • Production Instance: Activate "Update Source - test" to pull Update Sets from test.

This tool is perfect for ServiceNow admins managing Update Sets across multiple instances!
