User Guide
The Dashboard Module Creator is a UI Action in ServiceNow that automates the creation of a new Module for a Dashboard. It pre-populates the Arguments field to link the Module to the selected Dashboard, then redirects you to complete the setup, eliminating manual errors in formatting.
How to Use the Dashboard Module Creator:
Navigate to a Dashboard: Open a Dashboard record in ServiceNow.
Access the UI Action: Under Related Links, click on Create a Module for this Dashboard (ASI).
Confirm Creation: A dialog will appear asking, "Are you sure you want to create a new Module for this Dashboard?" Click "OK" to proceed.
Complete Module Details:
You’ll be redirected to the new Module record.
The Title, Link type and Arguments fields will be pre-populated
Fill in the remaining fields such as Application menu, Order, and Hint to customize the Module.
Save and Use: Save the Module to add it to your application menu, where it will link directly to the Dashboard.
Technical Details:
The UI Action sets the "Link type" to "URL (from Arguments)" and pre-fills the "Arguments" field with the correct syntax to link the Module to the Dashboard.
This automation ensures consistency and saves time by avoiding manual entry of complex Arguments.
