User Guide

The System Property Category Module Creator is a UI Action that simplifies the creation of a new Module for a System Property Category in ServiceNow. It automatically generates a Module with pre-populated Arguments to display System Properties tied to the selected category, then redirects you to complete the setup.


How to Use the Module Creator:

  1. Navigate to a System Property Category: Open a System Property Category record

  2. Access the UI Action: Under "Related Links," click on Create a Module for this Category (ASI).

  3. Confirm Creation: A confirmation dialog will appear asking, "Are you sure you want to create a new Module for this Category?" Click "OK" to proceed.

  4. Complete Module Details:

    • You’ll be redirected to the new Module record.

    • The Link type and Arguments fields will be pre-populated.

    • Fill in the remaining fields such as Title, Application menu, Order, and Hint to customize the Module.

  5. Save and Use: Save the Module to add it to your application menu, where it will display the list of System Properties for the selected category.


Technical Details:

  • The UI Action automatically sets the Link type to "URL (from Arguments)" and pre-fills the Arguments field with the correct syntax to link the Module to the System Property Category.

  • This eliminates manual entry errors and ensures the Module correctly displays the associated System Properties.
